When it comes to big day prep, many brides find themselves looking to
adopt a new health and fitness routine in order to look their very
best. There's no need to take on any drastic diet or lifestyle change,
but here are some simple tips to help keep you on track and looking
fabulous for your wedding day!
Get Your Rest
One
of the best things you can do for your body is getting enough rest.
Experts say that you should aim to get eight hours of sleep a night in
order to feel fully rested. Not getting an adequate amount of sleep can
affect more than just your energy levels- it can even slow your
metabolism! Make sure you have enough time to rest so you can feel and
look your best.
Drink Lots of Water
Keep a bottle of water on hand at all times, and be sure to drink your recommended water intake
every day. A good rule of thumb for figuring out how much water you
should be drinking daily is to divide your body weight in half and drink
that many ounces.
Wash Your Face
Make sure to take the best care of your
largest bodily organ: your skin! You'll be in lots of photographs on
your big day, so you'll want to take steps to pamper and care for your
skin to ensure you look your best. One of the most important things you
can do is make sure to remove your makeup each night and wash your face.
Sleeping in your makeup can clog your pores and cause breakouts, so
it's imperative that you go to bed with a clean face each night.
Moisturize
Another
great way to keep your skin looking its best is to be sure to
moisturize. Keeping your skin moisturized will help to keep it looking
young by maintaining its elasticity. If you're going to be in the sun,
it's also important to protect your skin from harmful exposure so don't
forget the sunscreen!
Eat a Healthy, Balanced Diet
There's
no need to go on some crazy fad diet to drop weight for your big day,
but if you are hoping to lose a few pounds before you walk down the
aisle, you should stick to a balanced diet with an adequate calorie
intake. Be sure to eat plenty of fresh veggies, complex carbohydrates
and healthy proteins that will fuel your body to get through the day.
Don't Skip Meals
It's
important to consume an adequate amount of calories in your meals each
day to ensure that you are burning fat and not muscle. Don't skip meals
to try to lose weight, instead eat smaller more frequent meals of
healthy foods to give your metabolism a boost!
Move Your Body
Getting exercise
and moving your body is key to maintaining your overall health, not
just for losing weight. There are lots of benefits to exercise:
cardiovascular activity is good for your heart, doing strength training
or weight lifting will burn fat and build muscle, the endorphins will
help you kick wedding stress to the curb and working out will even help
you sleep better at night! A mixture of several types of exercise will
help you stay interested, so choose doing things you enjoy and make it
fun!
Get Your Vitamins
Taking vitamins can help
ensure you get all the proper nutrients in your body if you're not able
to eat the cleanest or healthiest meals. There are lots of different
vitamins that can help you in a pinch with everything from digestive
health, energy levels, stress and more. There are even vitamins that are meant to make your hair, skin and nails healthy and gorgeous in prep for your big day!
