You love the beach. You think it is one of the most romantic places
on earth and you couldn’t imagine exchanging your vows anywhere else.
While beach weddings are popular and they are certainly romantic, it takes a lot of careful planning in order to pull it off.
In order to make sure that your beach wedding is a success, keep the following tips in mind while you’re making your plans.
Sun Protection
There’s nothing more uncomfortable than staring into the bright
sun, or sitting in its blaring heat. Make sure your guests are happy and
comfortable – provide them with some protection from the sun.
You
could tell them to bring their sunglasses, but for those who forget
them, you want to provide them with a way to keep the sun out of their
eyes.
You could offer a supply of sun hats
or parasols. To keep things cool, provide hand-held fans and cool
drinks for your guests to sip on. The more comfortable your guests are,
the better time they will have at your wedding, so make comfort a top
priority and everyone will be pleased.
Shoe Trade In
While
you may plan on being barefoot, your guests may not. Though you will
let your guests know it’s a beach affair ahead of time, you they may not
think wear sandals. For those guests who come to your wedding in heels
or wingtips, make sure that they have something comfortable to slip on while they’re in the sand.
Fill baskets or buckets with flip flops. You can purchase one-size-fits-all from a discount store in colors that coordinate with your wedding.
You can also order them online and have your and
your future husband’s monogram added to them. Either way, your guests
will be glad that you thought to prevent damage to their footwear.
Chill In the Air
Believe
it or not, the beach can get chilly, even in the middle of the summer. A
cold front could move in, it could be a very windy day, or when the sun
goes down, the temperature could significantly drop.
In order to make sure everyone is comfortable if it’s chilly, offer
ways to stay warm. Blankets, shawls and even sweaters are all items
that you can supply for your guests. As an added bonus, these items can
also serve as favors. Have your names and wedding date embroidered on them and your guests will have something to remember your wedding by.
Backup Plan
They
say rain on a wedding day brings good luck, but if your wedding is on
the beach, the last thing you want is rain. While you may be having your
beach wedding in a location where rain seldom falls, there is always a
chance that it could rain. The weather is unpredictable and you want to
make sure that, in the event that it does rain, you’re going to want to
have a backup plan in place.
Whether it’s a tent or an indoor
shelter, having a space that is protected from the rain is important,
even if you don’t end up needing to use it (and hopefully, you won’t.)
Proper Permits
You
may need to apply for permits to have your wedding on the beach. Make
sure you check with your venue, your wedding planner or the town where
you are holding the affair to see if permits are needed. Do this well in
advance of your wedding date so that if you do need them, you have the
time to apply for them and you won’t run into problems on the big day.
With these tips, you can ensure that your dream beach wedding will be a great success.
