“It’s Over” How to survive a relationship breakup.

Romantic relationships aren’t necessarily meant to last forever, but that doesn’t make it any easier to deal with when they do come to an end. There are couples who are together for over a decade who still reach a point in their lives where they decide to go separate ways.

"  I’m going to smile and make you think I’m happy, I’m going to laugh,
so you don’t see me cry, I’m going to let you go in style, and even if
it kills me – I’m going to smile. ~ Lone Star "

Some of these relationships end amicably, whilst others part ways in a more acrimonious fashion. However the relationship ends, break-ups can be incredibly challenging, both mentally and spiritually. Many find that they must go through a grieving period of sorts before they can begin the healing process and move on with their lives.

If you’re someone who’s recently gone through a break-up, you may be struggling to find a way to cope. Well, remember that you’re not alone, because we’re here to show you that there is life after a break-up. In fact, you may find that in the long-run, what seemed like the end of the world at the time, might just end up being a blessing in disguise.

The ‘Cooling Off’ Period

The mistake that many people make after a break-up is by not giving their ex-partner enough time and space to think things through. People often say things that they don’t really mean in times of anger.

So, if your break-up was particularly explosive, that’s even more reason to have a ‘cooling off period’. It’s about allowing the ‘dust to settle’, there’s no point in having contact if you’re both still thinking with your hearts and not your heads. At this stage, you need to concentrate on yourself. It’s not the time to start fixating on how to win him back for good.

The Importance of ‘Me-time’

When we’re in a relationship, it can become all too easy to lose a little of our own identities. We start thinking in terms of two people being akin to a ‘single unit’. Whilst existing in a partnership can be very rewarding, it can often cause us to end up neglecting ourselves.

So, if your relationship has recently ended, why not make the best of a bad situation, by enjoying some all-important ‘me-time’? Do the things you used to do before you and your partner got together. Meet up with your girlfriends for lunch, go and watch a movie, or take a long walk in the countryside.

What Will Be Will Be

They say that the final stage of the grieving process is acceptance and once again we can draw a parallel with relationships.

Once you learn to accept what is essentially, out of your control, only then can you start to move on. If the relationship is meant to be, your paths will cross again at some point in the future. However, if it wasn’t meant to last, you’re now in a position where you’re emotionally ready to meet your ‘Mr Right’. If you’re not quite there yet, just enjoy being single for a while.

So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to get out there and show him and the rest of the world exactly what you’re made of.
